5 flights cancelled at Surakarta airport due to Mount Agung eruption
Five flights to and from Adi Soemarmo International Airport in Surakarta, Central Java, were cancelled on Monday due to the eruption of Mount Agung in Bali.
The cancelled flights included flights from Surakarta to Denpasar, Bali, and Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, as well as from Denpasar to Surakarta and also from Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, to Surakarta.
Danardewi, head of the public relations division of state-owned operator Angkasa Pura I (AP I) Surakarta, said the five flights were cancelled following the closure of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, which began on Monday morning.
The temporary closure of Lombok International Airport on Sunday had also influenced flight cancellations at the Surakarta airport, she added.
"Two of the five flights were operated by Lion Air and the three others were AirAsia and Wings Air," Danardewi said.
"The cancelled Denpasar-Surakarta and Surakarta-Denpasar flights were operated by AirAsia," said Danardewi.
